HEALTH / LIFESPAN

AN ANNUAL VETERINARY CHECKUP IS RECOMMENDED TO CATCH EARLY HEALTH ISSUES, BUT IS NOT REQUIRED.

A VETERINARIAN MAY SUGGEST YOU GET YOUR RABBIT NEUTERED TO IMPROVE AND EXTEND THEIR QUALITY OF LIFE.

RABBITS NEED THEIR NAILS CLIPPED A FEW TIMES A YEAR. THIS CAN BE DONE AT HOME, AT A GROOMER, OR EVEN AT THE VET.

ALL THINGS CONSIDERED, THE AVERAGE LIFE SPAN IS 7-12 YEARS.

HOUSING

THE MINIMUM HOUSING REQUIREMENT FOR A RABBIT IS AN AREA OF AT LEAST 8 SQUARE FEET.

HOWEVER, WE STRONGLY BELIEVE BIGGER IS BETTER AND RECOMMEND AN AREA 48" LONG OR LARGER. A LARGER SPACE MEANS MORE ROOM FOR TOYS, LITTER BOX, AND FOR YOUR RABBIT TO MOVE AROUND AND STRETCH THEIR LEGS!

FEEDING

THE GENERAL RULE OF THUMB IS 1/4TH CUP OF FOOD PER 3LBS OF THE RABBITS WEIGHT.

IN ADDITION TO THEIR PELLETED FOOD, AN UNLIMITED AMOUNT OF TIMOTHY HAY NEEDS TO BE SUPPLIED. RABBITS ARE GRAZERS AND NEED THIS GRASS TO SNACK ON THROUGHOUT THE DAY.

YOUNG RABBITS BENEFIT FROM FOODS WITH HIGHER LEVELS OF NUTRIENTS, THEREFORE WE FEED OUT BUNNIES OXBOW YOUNG RABBIT FOOD.

WATER SHOULD BE REPLENISHED DAILY TO PREVENT IT FROM GOING STALE. A HANGING WATER BOTTLE IS PREFERRED BECAUSE A WATER BOWL RISKS TIPPING OVER AND MAKING A MESS.

TOYS / ENRICHMENT

LIKE RODENTS, RABBITS HAVE FOREVER GROWING TEETH AND ALWAYS NEED SOMETHING TO HELP DULL THEIR TEETH DOWN.

WE HAVE PLENTY OF RABBIT TOYS THAT HELP WITH THIS PROCESS WHILE ALSO PROVIDING ENRICHMENT. WITHOUT ENRICHMENT, RABBITS CAN BECOME DEPRESSED AND DEVELOP HEALTH ISSUES.

FUN FACTS

RABBITS ARE NOT RODENTS, THEY ARE PART OF A FAMILY CALLED LEPORIDS. THEIR MAIN DIFFERENCE LIES IN THEIR ARRANGEMENT OF TEETH!

RABBITS ARE RELATIVELY SOLITARY ANIMALS AND PREFER TO LIVE ALONE. IN SOME CASES, TWO FEMALES BE COHABITATED.

RABBITS RECOGNIZE THEIR OWNERS JUST AS GOOD AS DOGS!
